Frequently Asked Questions
How does the auto transport process work?
After you place your order and submit the required paperwork, we schedule your shipment based on your preferred dates. Once a truck is assigned, you’ll receive a call to confirm pickup time and location. At pickup, the driver performs a detailed inspection and notes the vehicle’s condition on the Bill of Lading (BOL) — both parties sign and you keep a copy. The same BOL is used at delivery to re‑inspect the vehicle. If anything seems off, note it on the BOL before signing.
Is my vehicle insured?
Yes. All carriers must carry insurance that meets state and federal requirements. Inspect the vehicle at delivery and note any damage on the BOL with the driver’s signature; claims cannot be processed if damages are not documented at the time of delivery.
What is a condition report?
The condition report is part of the BOL. It documents your vehicle’s state at pickup. Review and sign it with the driver, and keep a copy. Any claims at destination are compared against this report.
What kind of auto transporter will move my vehicle?
Most vehicles are moved on multi‑car carriers — the same type used to deliver new cars to dealerships — operated by licensed, insured drivers.
What’s the difference between open and enclosed carriers?
Open carriers are the industry standard and most cost‑effective, but vehicles are exposed to weather and road dust. Enclosed carriers are fully covered and recommended for high‑value, luxury, or classic vehicles. Enclosed shipping costs more due to lower capacity and increased protection.
Do I have to be present at pickup and delivery?
Yes, or you may appoint a trusted agent to act on your behalf. Someone must be available to sign the BOL at both pickup and delivery.
Where will my vehicle be picked up and delivered?
We provide door‑to‑door service whenever safely possible. If the truck cannot access your street due to size or local rules, we’ll meet nearby at a large, safe location such as a shopping center.
How long will pickup and delivery take?
Typical pickup occurs within 1–3 days after booking. Transit timing depends on distance and routing: regional moves can take 1–7 days and cross‑country usually 7–14 days. Weather, traffic, routing and mechanical issues can affect schedules; dates are estimates, not guarantees.
How do I prepare my vehicle for transport?
- Secure or remove loose parts (spoilers, ground effects, antennas if possible).
- Seal convertible tops and check fluids; ensure battery is secure and leak‑free.
- Remove personal items and toll tags; deactivate alarms.
- Leave about a 1/4 tank of fuel.
- Photograph the vehicle (all sides, wheels, interior).
Can I put items in my trunk?
No. Personal items are not authorized and are not covered by carrier insurance. Trucks may be inspected by law enforcement or DOT; prohibited items can lead to fines or impound.
What is a Bill of Lading (BOL) or freight bill?
The BOL serves as your receipt and the contract of carriage between you and the carrier. It lists shipper/receiver details and documents vehicle condition. Read the terms carefully and make sure contact information is correct.
How do I pay for vehicle transport?
A small deposit may be required to schedule. The balance is typically due upon delivery (COD), payable to the driver via cash or certified funds. Check your confirmation for accepted payment methods.
